Cowboy Poetry

It was exciting to see some cowboy poets show up at Marfa ISD to serenade the Elementary and High School students. Kids were taught what exactly cowboy poetry is and shown some great examples of the art.

March Happenings

The Men’s Basketball team is in the Playoffs with the first game on Thursday, February 26 in Kermit.  Golf, Softball, and Track have started as well. Check out the calendar to see the full schedules.

March 2 – 6 is Texas Public Schools week and on Tuesday the ISD is holding an Open House from 6 to 7 p.m. on all campuses. The public is invited. It is a come and go event.

Spring Break is March 16 – 20th. Also next year’s calendar has been posted. Marfa ISD will go back to the second week of the month for Spring Break. …

Our students have successfully participated in a robotics competition for the past five years. This year the senior students have asked to accept a new challenge by competing in U.S. First Robotics competition. These robots are created by the students and not as kit-driven as in previous contests. In addition, they are much larger robots. This year’s robot is expected to have a base of 16  inches by 32 inches. Who knows how tall it will be. Keep an eye on our website to follow our robotics teams this spring. Marfa ISD “Met Standard” in both the 2013-2014 and 2012-2013 School Year. Marfa Schools are accredited by the Texas Education Agency.  Texas has only two ratings: “Met Standard” and “Needing Improvement.”
