Summer Shakeup 2015

Marfa ISD students are enjoying everything from flamenco and drum lessons to puppeteering and stage design. Come see students perform their dance skills at the USO building on Friday from 6:30-7.

The Road to Excellence

New Books for You!

Literacy Camp – This Tuesday 10 AM at the Marfa Elementary Library.  The First Baptist Church of Laurens, South Carolina is coming to Marfa on August 4th. Their members are mostly educators from a local public school that includes Montessori classes. They want to help our students. These volunteers will be here to read books and share literacy activities with our students in PK – 8th grade. Students will receive books and a bookshelf to hold their “mini-library.” No registration required, just come to the Elem. Library at 10 AM on Tuesday, August 4.

Marfa secondary students exhibited work at the Marfa Book Co. The exhibits ranged from intricate drawings to a dynamic, human paint piece. Katie Smithers helped organize the event and was on hand to enjoy it.

Marfa ISD “Met Standard” in both the 2013-2014 and 2012-2013 School Year. Marfa Schools are accredited by the Texas Education Agency.  Texas has only two ratings: “Met Standard” and “Needing Improvement.”
