Summer Shakeup 2015

Marfa ISD students are enjoying everything from flamenco and drum lessons to puppeteering and stage design. Come see students perform their dance skills at the USO building on Friday from 6:30-7.

The Road to Excellence

Marfa Schools seniors received around $81,000 worth of scholarships before heading off to colleges and schools around the state. Marfa secondary students exhibited work at the Marfa Book Co. The exhibits ranged from intricate drawings to a dynamic, human paint piece. Katie Smithers helped organize the event and was on hand to enjoy it.

Marfa ISD “Met Standard” in both the 2013-2014 and 2012-2013 School Year. Marfa Schools are accredited by the Texas Education Agency.  Texas has only two ratings: “Met Standard” and “Needing Improvement.”

Good news! PBS Student Reporting Labs has agreed to publish all of the pieces created by the Broadcasting students at MHS. That’s Joel, Amber, Alejandra, Michael, Brizzy and Chris (Eva’s was already published last fall). A big thank you to Sally and Mia for their volunteer consulting, guidance, and patience as they worked with our kids. The pieces will air next Monday at 6:30 p.m. on Marfa Public Radio.
