8th Graduation & Senior Awards
Eighth graders walked the stage this week graduating into High School for next year. Marfa Seniors also received scholarships and awards from community members and staff. Remember to congratulate them all!

Marfa Schools seniors received around $81,000 worth of scholarships before heading off to colleges and schools around the state. Many community members and organizations chipped in to make this happen. The full link of awards and donors can be found on the following pdf – 2015 Scholarship Awards. We’d like to thank everyone who supported these students and helped them springboard into the next section of their lives.
Marfa secondary students exhibited work at the Marfa Book Co. The exhibits ranged from intricate drawings to a dynamic, human paint piece. Katie Smithers helped organize the event and was on hand to enjoy it.
Marfa ISD “Met Standard” in both the 2013-2014 and 2012-2013 School Year. Marfa Schools are accredited by the Texas Education Agency. Texas has only two ratings: “Met Standard” and “Needing Improvement.”
School is officially out on Friday, June 5. Seniors graduate on Friday, May 29th. The first week of June we call success days. All third graders through eleventh graders who have passed all of their STAAR tests this year and completed all course work are invited to stay home. The remaining students will return for 4.5 days to get ready for re-tests and study to be prepared for next year. A letter will go home on Wednesday stating if your student is exempt in June or must return. Our results are in and it appears that half of our students …
